Sovereign Supermarket first opened its doors at 1957 on Tower Street by four brothers, Roy, Gladstone, Kenneth and Earl Loshusan. In an era that was challenging politically, economically and financially they persevered. Sovereign Supermarket slowly evolved. In the course of its journey they moved from Tower Street to Barry Street, then to Orange Street, then to their final home for the past 20 years, The Sovereign Centre in Liguanea. The Sovereign, as it is affectionately called, was not only the lively hood and love of the family but also the heartbeat of the community. Today, Sovereign has a staff complement of over seventy members and support numerous local farmers and vendors. Born from the streets of downtown Kingston, Sovereign Supermarket strongly supports Jamaica, its people and its products. Sovereign wants to remain and strives to be Jamaica’s household name in supermarkets. Providing the best Customer Service is our aim. Our team members are always ready to serve you with a smile and are available to assist you with your every need.
